About Lovells 31

Our Story

Lovell’s 31 creates gourmet bread pudding with a twist, reimagining this classic dessert with a different texture, taste, and exceptionally unique flavors. Located in Richmond, VA, this small, minority-owned business sells its products in boutique stores throughout the city. We are licensed, and insured, and hold a certification from the Virginia Department of Agriculture.

The journey into bread pudding began with my childhood memories of visiting Old Country Buffet with my family after Sunday church service. Their delectable bread pudding left a lasting impression on me, sparking my passion for this dessert. I embarked on a culinary adventure, experimenting with various flavors and textures resulting in our first successful creation: Banana Cream Gourmet Bread Pudding featuring a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior.

As I introduced Maple Bacon and Carrot Cake renditions of the dessert, my family and friends couldn’t get enough. Encouraged by my son Vaughn, I took a leap and participated in the reality show “Deep Fried Masters” on Destination America.

To my surprise, my Deep-Fried Banana Cream bread pudding clinched the top spot in the first round. Vaughn’s enthusiasm motivated me to share our creation with a wider audience. Unfortunately, Vaughn passed away before we could see this vision come to life.

In 2021, the dream of establishing a company dedicated to sharing this nostalgic dessert became a reality. Lovell’s 31 is affectionately named after my granddaughter, Angel Lovell, and pays tribute to my late son, Vaughn, who left us at the age of 31. The angel wings in our logo symbolize our shared love, family values, and dedication to this decadent treat. Our signature family recipe produces a light, fluffy, and timeless dessert adored by a diverse clientele. With an array of flavors and sizes available, our popular choices like Banana Cream and Maple Sweet Potato are offered year-round, alongside seasonal and holiday specialties.

The Lovell’s 31 brand is more than just an idea on paper; it is the embodiment of our company, encompassing all of the experiences and expectations that people associate with us.
