Disability Support Initiative – All India Milli Ulama Board (AIMUB)

Overview

In India, individuals with disabilities often face considerable barriers in accessing education, healthcare, employment, and social acceptance. AIMUB’s Disability Support Initiative is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities by providing access to essential resources, skills, and inclusive opportunities. Our goal is to foster a society where individuals with disabilities are empowered to lead fulfilling lives, participate fully in their communities, and achieve self-reliance.

Challenges Faced by People with Disabilities

People with disabilities in India often encounter:

  • Limited Access to Education and Employment: Lack of inclusive schools and workplaces prevents many individuals from pursuing an education or meaningful employment.
  • Healthcare Barriers: Many individuals with disabilities lack access to the healthcare services they need, including physical rehabilitation, mental health support, and specialized medical treatments.
  • Social Stigmatization and Isolation: Disability is often misunderstood, leading to social exclusion and isolation, which affects mental well-being and self-confidence.
  • Physical Accessibility Issues: Public spaces, transportation, and facilities are often not designed with accessibility in mind, limiting the independence and mobility of individuals with disabilities.
